OxVeg Committee Meeting 14th May 2009

OVNews – classified section
Attendees: Paul Appleby (PA), Heather Shepherd (HS), Pam Hopcraft (PH), David Huish (DH), Paul Freestone (PF), Rachel Foster (RF)

1. Update from last meeting:
- HS: wrote website article about chocolate workshop; compiled and sent OVNews; agreed discount with Live Native; Updated Vegetarian Society on National Vegetarian Week events, and obtained t-shirts and seed packets for the events.
- PA: wrote review of “Face on your plate†– to publish in IVU news, and email to HS for inclusion on website and OVNews; received invite to “Armed Presentation Team†(addressed to secretary, but no-one available to attend from committee); Advised Belgium town of Ghent announced meat-free Thursdays. HS to put in OVNews.
- DH: No change to financials from last month; Leveller’s Day organisers have advised no sales permitted, so will have to accept donations instead.
- PF: contacted media about NVW events, and contacted several companies about donations for free food event.
- PH: Recipe packs requested from Vegetarian Society.
- RF: Vegan Fayre meeting on 28th May, after OAP meeting (approx 9pm). All invited, RF agrees to report back to OxVeg.
2. Membership questionnaire
After discussion, final wording for questionnaire agreed. PH to type up for HS to include on next OVNews.
3. OVNews – classified section
PA suggested having section in OVNews for members notices, such as flatshare requests / cookery books for sale, etc. HS to mention in next newsletter.
4. Next Events
National Vegetarian Week (18th-24th May)
Library display all organised. PF advises demo at Wantage health foods unlikely to go ahead. Picnic – to meet at playpark.
Summer Garden Party
DH to organise raffle for party, HS to request prizes on next newsletter, PF to ask Sharon from VERO to ask their members for prizes, RF to approach Lush. PF will provide juicing (claim ingredients as OxVeg expense). Will advertise on Daily Info, etc two weeks before to give members priority to reserve space.
July Events
Agreed to leave July free of events.
Possible August events –Animal Aid collection + free food stall?, Elder Stubbs, Vegan Fayre.
5. AOB
HS will not be taking part in OxVeg activities/meetings for months of July-Sept as her baby is due in August. PA agreed to cover OVNews editing.
6. Next Meeting
HS to book room for 18th June.
